Semester 2 of the year 2015-2016, 7A1 and 7A2 continued to collaborate with students from SSIS, still in the framework of our Global Partners Junior course, this time with Mrs Jardin's 7th grade class.
We started by inviting SSIS students to our campus for 7A1 and 7A2 students to teach them one technique to draw mandalas. They learned the technique ahead of time on http://www.art-is-fun.com/how-to-draw-a-mandala/
7A1 and 7A2 subsequently visited SSIS for the same students who visited us to teach us a different mandala drawing technique. Some also demonstrated an ipad app that can be used to draw digital mandalas, and some shared a video to teach a third technique: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g16B64myG-E
After all students from all classes involved designed new mandalas, choosing the technique they preferred, and following the theme of "City" or "Cities", both schools swapped their mandalas. In small groups, students merged 4 models to create a new, unique mandala that incorporates elements from all four original models.
The next step: drawing and painting the merged mandalas onto umbrellas and have combined art exhibitions with SSIS to display the umbrellas.
